Credit Card Debt Management

You can never have too many credit cards, right? Wrong! Believe it or not, some people think that this is true. In other words, they more or less collect credit cards. At any given time you could find these people with 10 or more cards in their wallet. While there is nothing wrong with using credit cards, if you are responsible, you need to draw the line somewhere. In other words, more is not always better. To take this a step further, more often times means more potential for mistakes.

There is no way of saying exactly how many credit cards are too many. This is something that needs to be looked at on a case by case basis. Somebody who has struggled with credit card debt in the past may not want even one card; and this is perfectly understandable. At the same time, if you have never had any trouble with credit cards you may have four or five and never think twice about adding another.

What is the problem with having too many credit cards? Basically, the more cards you have the more chance there is that you are going to get yourself into financial trouble. That being said, if you are responsible with your money and can exercise self restraint, this may never come into play.

A better question may be: can you control your spending? If you control your spending you can have unlimited credit cards without ever getting into financial trouble.
