Don’t Count on Credit Cards
Believe it or not, some people use credit cards to pay for their entire life. While this sounds silly, it is the absolute truth. If you rely on plastic you are going to get bit in the neck sooner or later. This does not mean that you have to shred every credit card that you have. But it does mean that you should not rely on your credit cards to finance your life. This is not a good practice, and if you do so you may find your finances in shambles.
How can you break the cycle of relying on credit cards to pay for everything? The best way to do this is to set goals. Again, you do not have to cut credit cards entirely out of your life. Instead, vow to only use them for particular purchases such as gas, groceries, etc. As you begin to cut down you may find this to be a lot of fun. Soon enough you will find it easy to leave your credit card at home and buy what you need with cash.
But what if you cannot control yourself? In this case, you may need to get rid of your credit cards altogether. You don’t have to cancel your cards, but you may want to shred them so that you do not have access. Of course, this is only necessary in the most desperate of situations. You should be able to control yourself to the point of leaving your credit cards at home.
There is nothing wrong with using credit cards if you can do so responsibly. But if you find yourself relying on them for every purchase, it may be time for a change.
