Do you need more than One Credit Card?

image-13-102408.jpgMillions of consumers rely on credit cards to make everyday purchases. Do you? If so, you have at least one credit card in your wallet. The question is: do you need more than one? This is a common question that many consumers ask. After all, more credit cards have to be better, right? While this is a common way of thinking, the answer is not always yes. There can come a time when you have enough credit cards and you don’t need to think about adding another one to your wallet.

If you are financially irresponsible you definitely don’t want to carry more than one credit card. In fact, you may not even want to carry one. Consumers who cannot control their spending don’t need access to more credit. This will only lead to more debt and more trouble in the end.

What if I am responsible? In this case you may want to carry a few credit cards. For instance, some consumers have one credit card that they use for grocery purchases and another for gas. This is the system that they use to stay organized, and if responsible, it may work. Others use more than one credit card because this works in their favor from a rewards program point of view.

Finally, if you have a low credit card limit on your only card you may need another to free up some more credit.

Keep this tip in mind: you should not have any credit cards if you are not responsible with the way you use them. Only those who act responsibly with their money should think about carrying a credit card. If you trust yourself and know that you can control your spending there is nothing wrong with applying for another credit card if need be.

Do you have to carry a Credit Card?

image-8-101408.jpgWho says that you have to carry a credit card? Believe it or not, many people think that they need a credit card in order to survive. If this sounds like you, listen up: this is not true. Although there are benefits and reasons to carry a credit card, there are people who should not go anywhere near them. Are you one of them?

If you feel that you have to carry a credit card you are wrong. Even if you are responsible with your money you should not feel that a credit card is a way of life. Instead, you need to realize that this is something you can use to your advantage but not something that you have to hang your hat on.

Consumers who are not financially responsible should stay away from credit cards at all costs. In other words, if you cannot buy something with cash you should not be buying it at all. This will lead to many changes within your life, but in the long run it will benefit you and your finances.

It is easy to get a credit card; this is something that most people have found out. But it is not easy to pay off a credit card if you go on a shopping spree and run up a huge bill. What will you do in this case? Some people immediately pay off their credit card, but those who are not as smart let the debt accumulate and in turn the problems begin.

You do not have to carry a credit card. There is no rule saying that you have to do this, or that it will make your life easier. If you are responsible and will pay off your credit card in full, you should carry one. But if you will abuse the power of credit, you should stay away from these at all costs.

Why are you scared of Credit Cards?

image-9-91708.jpgThere are many reasons why you may be scared of credit cards. That being said, if you check your wallet there is a good chance that you will find at least one of these. And believe it or not, some consumers have a fistful of credit cards. If you are scared of credit cards you need to know why, and then decide if this is something that should truly be worrying you.

The number of reason to be scared is that you do not trust yourself. In other words, you know that a credit card is bad news because you will max it out sooner rather than later. Do you feel this way about yourself? If so, you have every right to be scared. The best way to avoid this fear is to simply leave your credit cards at home when you go to the store. Better yet, if you do not need a credit card at all, get rid of them.

Others are scared of credit cards because they don’t want to pay high interest charges. If this sounds like you, you are a smart consumer. But remember, you do not pay an interest charge unless you carry over a balance from one month to the next. As long as you always pay off your bill in full you will never have to pay an extra cent in interest. Don’t let this fear completely scare you away from carrying credit cards.

If you are scared of credit cards you probably have a good reason. But before you cancel them all, make sure that you first consider your options for protecting yourself against these fears. You may find a way to keep your credit cards while beating your fear. This is the best of both worlds!
