Tax Rebates have arrived
For many months, there has been non-stop talk of the economic stimulus checks that were set to be sent to millions of Americans this summer. The time has finally come, and much to the surprise of many, rebates are being sent out earlier than expected. The first group of payments is set to be sent on Monday April 28, 2008. Many who will be receiving their payment via direct deposit will see the money in their account on this Monday. Paper checks will begin being sent on May 9, one week earlier than previously announced.
This extra cash is meant to help the millions of Americans who are currently struggling with higher costs of gas and food, as well as many other economic related issues that have become a major burden. The IRS has said that all checks will be sent to those who qualify no later than July 11. This holds true both for direct deposit payments and paper checks.
The biggest benefit of these payments is that Americans do not have to pay it back, or take a hit on their next tax refund. Instead, this is “free money†that can be used any way you see fit. With that being said, the government is hoping that the majority of people put this money back into the economy. They would much rather see the money being spent on big screen televisions and other similar items instead of on bills or savings. Of course, it is safe to say that many people will keep this money for the time being.
Many months ago, most consumers doubted that these checks would ever be sent. But sure enough the time has come, and the first batch of payments are on there way to save the economy!
