Happy Presidents’ Day! Enjoy These Presidential Quotes About Money!

Presidential quotes about moneyToday is Presidents’ Day, and it seems that plenty of presidents had wisdom to share on the subject of money. And some of it seems somewhat prophetic today.

John Adams: All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.

Before getting a home mortgage loan, understanding your credit, as well as what mortgage lenders are likely to do is important. As the next quote warns, seeming especially prophetic in these times of subprime worries.

Thomas Jefferson: Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.

I also thought that in light of the recent tax rebate news, a few presidential quotes on taxes would be in order:

Andrew Jackson: Every diminution of the public burdens arising from taxation gives to individual enterprise increased power and furnishes to all the members of our happy confederacy new motives for patriotic affection and support.

Warren C. Harding: I don’t know what to do or where to turn in this taxation matter. Somewhere there must be a book that tells all about it, where I could go to straighten it out in my mind. But I don’t know where the book is, and maybe I couldn’t read it if I found it.

Enjoy your Presidents’ Day, and remember to be thankful for what you do have!
